Well, we have about a year left on our lease, and we're already over our kilometers. Which means that every single km we drive we have to be conscious of. The only people who have come to our place to see us are Jamie and Pam. Which means? Well, in order to maintain any friendship beyond the internet, we've had to go to Georgetown or whatever up until now. Now that we can't, (and figures, the term is almost over so I would have had more time to be a 20 year old,) I not only get to continue being a loner, but now I don't exactly have hope that I will see my friends because it will cost us a good $9.00/trip on top of gas, and no one ever says they'll come out to Fergus. Like, I tried to throw a party this week and I got LAME excuses for people not coming.

Well we leased a car for 4 years. It's sort of like renting for a really long time from the dealer. The payments are lower than if you were to buy the vehicle because you don't get to keep it after the 4 years. You basically pay to use it. The problem we have is that we were allowed 80 000 kilometers for the 4 years, but we're only at the end of our 3rd year with the car and we've gone over 80 000. Now every kilometer that we drive over the 80 000 we have to pay the dealership ten cents when we give the car back. So if I drive to Georgetown, (near where Ed lives,) it will cost me about $9 for a round trip because it's about 90 kilometers. It really adds up. We currently would owe about $180, and it just keeps climbing. True - but sometimes lease payments seem cheaper when you buy it and plan to sell it or move to another car in a few years. I don't think Chris thought he'd be married when he first got the car :) Sarah - have you guys thought of financing? Go to the dealership and negotiate a new car and finance it. Gets you out of the lease right away, gets you a car that works well and doesn't have a KM limit on it, and that way you stop paying extra :) If you went used you could possibly get rid of the car on http://www.leasebusters.com/ - Ed |
